# Introduction
I want to start this blog off by saying ***"No, I have not lost my mind!"*** I am writing the draft of this article on the BOOX Note Air 4C. Other than using the Mobiscribe Wave as a dedicated e-reader, this is my first non-Supernote device that I have spent any real time taking notes on. After using the device for close to a week, I definitely have some thoughts. Not only am I using a BOOX device, but I am also running the beta software. You could say I am a glutton for punishment. However, it is in my nature to be this way. I am a beta tester on the Supernote and a Windows Insider. I haven't met a software yet that I don't want to be on the inside track with. That being said, BOOX is already complicated, with multiple videos dedicated to just setting up the device. Joining the beta out of the gate is kind of like trying to learn to drive on a Lamborghini with a manual transmission. So, let's double down on complicated and get started. As a warmup, if you want to see my unboxing and first impressions, see the video below:

# Overview
The most important thing for me is to recognize and emphasize that I am not what most people may consider as a "typical reviewer." Everything I do is in the context of organization and how I can be my most productive self. What are the tools and strategies that make that possible? So, why would I choose to start talking about other devices when the Supernote works so well for me? The answer lies in the question. It works well for **ME**. As someone who does a lot of things and works with people from all different backgrounds and comfort levels with technology, I really need to be more confident and comfortable in the technologies I recommend. The best way to do this is to actually use them, or at least as many as I have the opportunity to.
# Channel Philosophy
So, some of you may be thinking this is a change in philosophy for the channel, or even just a way for me to increase revenue. While I understand these concerns, I can only hope I have garnered enough trust that my explanation regarding wanting to gain a deeper understanding of the market is genuine and resonates with you. That being said, I do not want to mislead anyone. While I am still not doing sponsored content around these devices, I will participate in affiliate programs, including from the device manufacturers and still with Amazon. Why is this an important distinction? Here are a few reasons:
- **Autonomy** - Affiliate programs (at least the ones I participate in) do not require any specific content to be created or contracts related to content. While sometimes a brand provides marketing materials and information to creators, there is no expectation to "push" any specific items. For many of these brands, they explicitly state they want complete honesty.
- **No Additional Costs** - It is very important to me that nothing I do feels like I am passing a cost on to my supporters. Whether you purchase through one of my affiliate links or not, the price will be the same to you. It is just an easy way for you to show support for creators. It will not alter the content I make. Don't get me wrong, I value your input, there is just not a price tag attached to it.
- **Transparency** - While this whole article is about transparency, it's important to note that the use of affiliate links is a good way to reinforce the independence of the channel, while also acknowledging a mutually beneficial relationship with a brand. Positive or critical reviews all add to a deeper knowledge of the market and provide tremendous value to consumers. I love being a part of that because I directly benefited from it when making my first purchasing decision.
One other important component to this is the ability to provide better rounded and quality advice. I am still not going to discuss devices that I do not see myself using. For example, while the Palma 2 is a great device for many people, it would not fit my use case, so I will not be reviewing it, although I am happy to engage in a discussion of why it would not work for me. However, even though I am naturally still skeptical about color, the Note Air 4C is something I am evaluating for multiple reasons, one of which is to see if I am unfairly biased against color. The main takeaway is that I want to expand my own horizons, and hopefully help others the same way that the following creators helped me:

There are many others that have inspired me, and I cannot name them all here. However, these are either close collaborators, friends, or those who helped me begin my journey.
# What's Next?
Where do we go from here? What are the next steps? I will continue to work on the [Introduction to Organization and Second Brain Systems](https://www.patreon.com/OrganizingforChange/shop/introduction-to-organization-second-1402547?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=productshare_creator&utm_content=join_link) course, perhaps adding in additional bonus content in the modules at a future date (remember, once you purchase, you have lifetime updates). These revisions could be multiple examples from different devices. I will continue to be selective and intentional about the devices I choose to highlight on my channel and this blog.
As much as I love new technologies, I am not the one to just get "the shiny new thing" just because it is there. What this means is that you can expect to see primarily devices in the 10 inch or larger notetaking categories. The exception would be dedicated e-readers, or perhaps in the future an exceptional e-ink phone. The caveat here would also be non-notetaking devices such as the TRMNL or the [Aluratek](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/aluratek-epaper/aluratek-133-epaper-wifi-digital-photo-frame/description) Spectra 6 panels. You may also see some more in depth reviews on devices for video editing, keyboards, and other productivity tools.
# Conclusions & Final Thoughts
Well, that is all for now. One thing about infinite notes is that I have no idea how many pages this particular writing is. I also have no idea how I am going to get this out of the Note Air 4C to put it into Obsidian. Ok, well now I do as I finish this final thoughts. I ended up having to retype it all. While it still let me write everything out, I wish I didn't have to retype it all. Either way, I am enjoying expanding my understanding of new devices. Until next time, keep moving forward.
